It's another site full of history, though town planning here isn't as tradicional as in other squares in the city.
The church and the cloister of Santa Maria Novella occupy one of the sides of the square. It's geometrical decoration, colourist for the marble it contains, invites to enjoy it. On the other side of the square we find St. Paolo's church, another magnificent gallery from the Renaissance.
In old days this place was meant for tournaments, festive days and charriot races. The personages that presided celebrations had their seats under the Loggia's archade.
