Puerta del Sol

The Puerta del Sol occupied in the past the East access to the city. But during the 16th and 17th-century it turned into an important forum of the city.

It's an extended space without outstanding buildings. The most important one is a brick house designed by Ventura Rodríguez for the Post Houses, now offices of the Comunidad de Madrid. But the square is still nowadays forum to chat and a place for meeting and celebration, like New Year's eve party.

We can also step on the Zero Kilometre, from where the different radial hihgways that join Madrid with the rest of Spain are measured.
